An up close and personal adventure!

April 20, 2017 a group of residents and staff members from Chautauqua Rehabilitation and Nursing Center took off on a journey just north of Pine Mountain, GA to encounter one of the most unique experiences of a lifetime. Animals! Exotic animals! LOTS of exotic animals! The Serengeti Adventure is a 3-mile drive through section where you will have a chance not only to see, but also to feed and touch animals from around the world. The drive will bring you face to face with animals such as giraffes, zebras, buffalo, camels, a rhino and many more. After all that excitement time to wind down. Residents and staff members returned to their cabin for a cook-out and relaxation.

Next stop Callaway Gardens. Callaway Gardens is nestled in the southernmost foothills of the Appalachian Mountains where man and nature can abide together for the good of both. Callaway Gardens has been open since 1952 and for more than six decades later, their retreat continues to offer solace, inspiration and discovery for all who come here. Speaking of discovery that brings us to our last stop before making our way back home. Butterfly Sanctuary to become a butterfly expert. Residents and staff learned all about these incredible creatures that hold captive our hearts as much as our eyes.

I would say the adventure was very successful, and we all can’t wait to return. Until then we have some pictures and memories to cherish!
